tea tree oil benefits

Tee tree is an essential oil that is distilled from the leaves of a native Australian plant known as Melaleuca alternifolia. Tea tree oil has been in use for over a century as healing treatment, especially for skin conditions.

Its popularity has continued to grow all over the world, not just as alternative but also as a complimentary treatment. Today, the tea tree oil can be found commonly in topical medicines, household products and cosmetics. Here are the Tea tree oil benefits;

 1. Hair care

Tea tree oil can be used to treat scalp. It also unclogs the pores of the hair follicles and nourishes the roots. You just need a few drops to eliminate dandruff, lice and soothe your dry flaking skin. You can mix it with it any carrier such as jojoba or olive oil and massage it on the scalp before you shampoo. If you are using natural shampoo, mix ten drop of this essential oil with aloe Vera gel, coconut milk or other essential oils such as lavender and lemon. It is good at strengthening hair and preventing hair loss.

2. Anti-inflammatory

Recent researches have also shown that it can quell inflammation, probably as a result of its high concentration of terpinen-4-ol. This compound contains anti-inflammatory properties.

Several tests that were conducted on animals showed that terpinen-4-ol was able to suppress inflammatory activity especially in cases of mouth infection. Topically applied tea tree oil in humans reduces swelling in cases of histamine-induced inflammation of the skin. It is more effective than paraffin oil.

3. May Improve Oral Health

The oil can also eliminate bad bacteria. This makes it effective for bleeding gums and tooth decay, preventing and treating conditions that are related to inflammation of gums, such as gingivitis.

It is great in homemade toothpaste and mouthwash. It can be more effective if combined with coconut oil and baking powder.

5. Has Anti-Cancer Properties

Essential tea tree poses anti- cancer properties. According to a study that was published in Journal of Dermatological Sciences in the year 2015, the tea tree oil has rapid effect on decreasing cancerous tumors in rats and boosting immunity.

A combination of tea tree oil, frankincense and raspberry seed oil can help in curing the abnormal skin lesions. Apply on the area affected three times per day.
